SINCE I WENT to college at Yale, writing this book was fun and easy. I came up with most of the ideas on the train coming up to New Haven, just thinking about my experiences there: long lunches in the Trumbull dining hall, teammates on the football team holding hands and playing tag, the walk back to my room late at night. I also had favorite places like the roof of Jonathan Edwards that looks out over campus (the view that's on the cover of the book). I also spent a week at Yale sketching things I hadn't known: an English seminar on Chaucer, a student practicing capoeira on the Cross Campus lawn, a fencing team practice, the Yale Daily News. This book let me sketch Yale and see it in a way I hadn't or couldn't have while there. Writing it reminded me how exciting each day in college can be.
